The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has underscored the critical importance of cabin safety and the need for rigorous training and professionalism in the aviation industry. At the authority’s annual cabin safety workshop in Lagos, Acting Director-General Chris Najomo emphasized that every flight crew must possess skills in teamwork, effective communication, and other essential areas to promote air safety.
Najomo, represented by Lagos Regional Manager Mrs. Bukola Teriba, noted that safety is a continuous process, and the industry’s high regulatory standards demand constant training and retraining. “Safety is our top priority, and we ensure continuous training to maintain ICAO standards,” he said.
The NCAA boss highlighted the vital role of cabin crew in preventing incidents onboard and ensuring passenger confidence in their safety. “Flight crews are crucial, and we focus heavily on their training, including online training aligned with ICAO regulations,” he added.
Mrs. Maria Umor-Ordor, NCAA’s Head of Cabin Safety Inspection, emphasized the need for cabin crew professionals to rise above cultural and attitudinal barriers and embody professionalism. “This workshop focuses on the aspects of professionalism that define a safety professional,” she said.
