Lagos is set to become the epicenter of African tourism innovation as it prepares to host the inaugural Travelpreneur Conference and Expo (TRAVCONEXPO) from September 19 to 20, 2025. The event will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
Designed as a dynamic platform for business growth, strategic networking, and knowledge sharing, TRAVCONEXPO aims to spotlight the transformative role of innovation and entrepreneurship in shaping Africa’s travel future.
Under the theme “Innovating the Future of Travel: Empowering Entrepreneurs in a New Era,” the conference will highlight cutting-edge trends including sustainable tourism, travel technology, digital marketing, shifting consumer behaviours, and the vital role entrepreneurs play in building a resilient, future-ready industry.
Organized by Travconex Projects Limited, a subsidiary of Aeroport Group, the event promises to go beyond a typical trade fair.
Oludayo Gideon, CEO of Aeroport Group and TRAVCONEXPO convener, said, “We’re creating a vibrant platform that fuels innovation, forges strategic partnerships, and equips travel entrepreneurs with practical tools to succeed.”
As Nigeria’s first dedicated travel trade fair and professional development conference, TRAVCONEXPO aims to foster collaboration among travel startups, established industry players, investors, and technology providers.
Project Manager Olaotokunbo Olagoke emphasized, “Our theme reflects the powerful role innovation plays in overcoming recent global challenges. We want to empower entrepreneurs to lead the travel industry’s transformation with creativity, adaptability, and sustainability.”
The conference program includes insightful panel discussions, live demos, interactive workshops, and exhibition booths — all tailored to meet the evolving needs of Africa’s travel ecosystem.
One standout feature will be the Travelpreneur Awards, celebrating trailblazers who have made significant impacts on Nigeria’s travel and tourism sector, with special recognition for innovation, resilience, and inclusion.
Olagoke added, “This event isn’t just about presentations or displays. It’s a response to global shifts in consumer expectations and technology disruptions, aimed at building capacity and driving meaningful change.”
Project Director Akinkunmi Awotundun highlighted the event’s relevance to emerging professionals and startups: “We want to unite travel enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders to uncover new opportunities, exchange knowledge, and build lasting networks.”
With both local and international participants expected, TRAVCONEXPO is poised to position Nigeria as a vital hub for tourism innovation across Africa.
