Huawei Nigeria has taken a significant step toward advancing Nigeria’s renewable energy ambitions through a specialized training program aimed at promoting green energy adoption across the public sector.

In partnership with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the Ministry of Power, Huawei concluded its Green Energy and Solar Power Training in Abuja with a certificate ceremony that recognized the contributions and achievements of participants.

Jim Zhang, Board Director of Huawei Nigeria, emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and technological innovation. “We are proud to be at the forefront of digital power transformation,” Zhang stated. “This program highlights our shared mission to lead Nigeria toward a greener, more energy-efficient future.”

The training brought together senior civil servants and directors, providing hands-on workshops, technical instruction, and collaborative discussions around solar energy solutions. Participants gained critical skills designed to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in their respective ministries and departments.

Zhang encouraged the participants to take what they’ve learned and implement it actively. “The responsibility for a cleaner, sustainable Nigeria rests with each of us. Let’s be the driving force of that change,” he urged.

Representing the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, Permanent Secretary Dr. Kalba Danjuma Usman commended Huawei for its investment in upskilling government personnel and advancing renewable energy infrastructure.

She spotlighted the success of the recently installed one-megawatt solar unit at the Office of the Head of Civil Service, which has drastically reduced generator usage and cut diesel costs. “Since its commissioning, the generator has only been used once. That’s a major milestone in energy savings,” she noted.

Walson-Jack also praised Huawei for its compliance with local regulations and its role in empowering Nigerian engineers to lead these projects, stating that the collaboration is yielding both operational and developmental benefits.

Ejuaoje Festus, Director General at the Office of the Head of Service, highlighted the program’s three-month duration, which began in March 2025 and culminated with recognition awards for six outstanding participants.

One of those recognized, Osibe Ejike Emmanuel, a Director at the Ministry of Petroleum, expressed his appreciation. “This is a much-needed initiative. It’s equipping key public officers with the tools to drive Nigeria’s green energy revolution,” he said.

As Huawei continues to foster partnerships for renewable energy development, the training program stands as a powerful example of how strategic collaboration can fuel national progress.
