In a time when economic inclusion for women in Nigeria remains a critical issue, the fusion of fashion, entrepreneurship, and digital technology is emerging as a transformative solution.

Leading this movement is Oyidiya Ajike-Mbah, the visionary founder of the Garment Factory and Fashion Label IVÓ, and more recently, the IVÓ Fashionpreneur Academy (IFA).

Through the Scaling Fashion Project, a youth empowerment initiative in partnership with the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE), IFA is revolutionizing the Nigerian fashion industry by equipping young women with the skills and opportunities needed to achieve financial independence.

Nigeria’s Fashion Industry: A Billion-Dollar Opportunity
Nigeria’s fashion sector is a billion-dollar industry with immense potential for job creation and wealth generation. However, many talented young people struggle to turn their passion into sustainable careers or businesses.

Challenges within the industry include:
Unregulated working conditions and lack of standardized wages
Predominantly informal operations with minimal business structure
Skill gaps and limited access to structured training
Lack of business development resources
Insufficient financial support for fashion entrepreneurs

Most traditional fashion schools focus on technical skills like design and tailoring but fail to provide training in entrepreneurship, mentorship, and financial management, which are essential for long-term success.

Recognizing these gaps, Oyidiya Ajike-Mbah launched IFA to equip young women with business acumen and digital marketing expertise, turning skilled artisans into thriving entrepreneurs.

IFA: Transforming Fashion Education Through Digital Entrepreneurship
The IVÓ Fashionpreneur Academy (IFA) operates with a shared economy model, ensuring that training one young woman has a ripple effect in empowering others within her community and ecosystem.

IFA provides:
Digital Marketing & Sales Training – Teaching young women how to sell fashion products online using virtual storefronts and social media marketing.
Business Incubation & Funding Support – Offering funding opportunities, business registration assistance, and production capacity to help women scale their fashion ventures.
A Marketplace for Female Entrepreneurs – Enabling participants to sell through virtual inventory and storefronts, eliminating high startup costs.
Mentorship & Coaching – Connecting women with industry experts to foster long-term career growth.

Through its Alumni Program, IFA supports female entrepreneurs with funding, networking, and resources to sustain and expand their businesses.

IFA’s Holistic Approach to Fashion Entrepreneurship
IFA’s comprehensive curriculum is structured around three core pillars:

Technical Mastery – Hands-on training in design, tailoring, and production.
Entrepreneurial Development – Education in branding, pricing strategies, business management, and financial literacy.
Coaching & Mentorship – Personalized guidance from industry experts and successful fashion entrepreneurs.

By integrating technical expertise with business knowledge, IFA empowers women to build sustainable fashion brands, equipping them to navigate the industry with confidence.

Women’s Economic Empowerment: A National Priority
When women achieve financial independence, they reinvest in their families and communities, driving overall economic growth. IFA is at the forefront of this transformation, creating a new generation of fashion entrepreneurs and positioning Nigeria as a global hub for fashion manufacturing and retail.

Scaling Impact: The Call for Collaboration
To expand its reach, IFA seeks partnerships with policymakers, investors, ministries, and industry leaders who share its vision of empowering young women through fashion entrepreneurship.

Government agencies can integrate fashion entrepreneurship into broader economic inclusion programs.
Investors can provide funding to scale IFA’s training infrastructure and resources.
Fashion industry stakeholders can collaborate to provide job placements and mentorship.

IFA: A Movement Redefining Fashion Entrepreneurship
As conversations around women’s economic empowerment gain momentum, IFA stands as a beacon of possibility—proving that with the right training, mentorship, and financial support, young Nigerian women can break economic barriers and build successful careers in fashion.

Under the leadership of Oyidiya Ajike-Mbah, IFA is not just a skill acquisition academy—it is a movement shaping the future of fashion entrepreneurship in Nigeria and beyond.
