When most people saw the 2020 lockdown as a pause, Ajibero Oreoluwa Eniola saw it as a launchpad. What began as a simple idea born out of boredom and curiosity during those quiet months has evolved into ABY STORE, a buzzing online retail brand that serves hundreds of Nigerians seeking style and convenience.

Oreoluwa, a final-year Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, is the vibrant mind behind the brand. What started as a small social media page selling household items and sneakers has blossomed into a full-fledged online business that connects affordability, authenticity, and accessibility in one digital space.

A Dream Fueled by Purpose

Oreoluwa’s journey wasn’t sparked by luck — it was driven by a clear vision. While others were adjusting to online classes during the pandemic, she was building an e-commerce model that mirrored modern consumer needs: ease, trust, and speed.

“I wanted people to buy what they love without leaving home or worrying about inflated prices,” she once shared. This conviction became the heartbeat of ABY STORE — a name now associated with consistency, transparency, and stylish reliability.

Starting Small, Growing Strong

Unlike many startups that crumble under financial strain, Oreoluwa found a way to begin without breaking the bank. With little more than a phone, internet connection, and determination, she began taking orders online before sourcing the requested items from the market.

Her model was simple but brilliant: trust first, profit later. Customers learned to depend on her word — and that trust became her greatest currency.

Her clientele grew steadily, fed by word-of-mouth and genuine service rather than flashy advertising. Before long, ABY STORE had transformed from a bedroom business into a brand trusted across Nigeria’s competitive e-commerce landscape.

Tough Lessons and Turning Points

Entrepreneurship wasn’t all smooth sailing. Oreoluwa recalls moments that tested both her patience and professionalism. From late deliveries by dispatch riders to customers demanding refunds for perfectly good items, she’s experienced the emotional rollercoaster that every business owner knows too well.

“There were days I cried,” she admitted in an interview. “But quitting was never an option.”

That resilience paid off when her customer group chat hit over 1,000 members, marking her first major breakthrough. “That was the moment I realized I had built something people believed in,” she said.

Challenges in the Nigerian Market

Running a digital business in Nigeria means battling unstable data costs, unreliable logistics, and price fluctuations. Yet, Oreoluwa continues to adapt, always finding creative ways to keep prices fair and delivery efficient. Her approach — combining honesty with agility — has made her brand one that thrives even amid economic uncertainty.

Staying Rooted, Dreaming Bigger

While many young Nigerians dream of leaving for greener pastures abroad, Oreoluwa’s focus remains firmly on home soil. She believes her biggest impact will come from building something meaningful in Nigeria before ever considering life elsewhere.

“I want to grow my brand here first,” she said. “When I finally travel, it’ll be to explore — not to start over.”

More Than a CEO — A Voice for Youth Empowerment

Beyond business, Oreoluwa represents a generation redefining success. A proud student entrepreneur, she’s also earned multiple awards, including Brand of the Year and Most Active Online Student. Her story speaks to the power of discipline, creativity, and purpose in a world where opportunities often come disguised as challenges.

Pitching Her Way to the Top

Oreoluwa’s confidence and authenticity shone brightest during the Pitch Your Biz competition organized by the Mass Communication Students’ Association in partnership with LAPO Microfinance Bank.

Despite her nerves, she delivered a compelling pitch that won the judges over — not with fancy words, but with genuine passion. The victory gave her the funding she needed to expand her business structure, stock more products, and solidify her brand’s credibility.

“That experience changed everything,” she said. “It taught me that when you speak from the heart, people listen.”

For those inspired by her story, Oreoluwa’s advice is simple yet powerful:

“Put God first, stay honest, and never lose sight of your customers. Even when you’re tired, don’t quit — just pause, breathe, and continue. Every small step adds up.”

Ajibero Oreoluwa Eniola isn’t just building a business — she’s shaping a mindset. Her journey from a lockdown idea to a respected online brand reflects a new wave of youth-led innovation reshaping Nigeria’s business landscape.
