The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sapphital Limited to expand economic opportunities for Nigerian youth, addressing unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship.
The agreement was signed by Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development, and Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment. The partnership aims to equip young Nigerians with essential skills, job opportunities, and entrepreneurial resources to thrive in today’s digital economy.
Strategic Programs for Youth Empowerment
According to Omolara Esan, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the collaboration will focus on two key initiatives:
Labour Employment and Entrepreneurship Programme (LEEP) – A program designed to provide skills training, job placements, and access to business funding.
Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA) Platform – A digital learning hub offering vocational training, mentorship, and entrepreneurial guidance.
“This partnership is about taking real action. By integrating technology, skills training, and mentorship, we are committed to preparing young Nigerians for success in today’s job market,” Olawande stated.
Driving Job Creation & Economic Growth
Minister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation and economic inclusion under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
With LEEP’s theme, “Don’t Leave Anyone Behind,” the initiative ensures that youth, women, and retirees have equal access to economic opportunities.
“The Ministry of Labour and Employment is committed to reducing poverty, creating wealth, and generating employment for Nigerians through strategic partnerships,” Onyejeocha stated.
A Future of Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Beyond job placement, the initiative seeks to empower young Nigerians as job creators, fostering innovation and economic transformation.
Through its partnership with Sapphital Limited, the government will provide practical training, digital learning tools, and mentorship, enabling Nigerian youth to become key players in the global digital economy.
This MoU marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest to build a future where young people drive economic prosperity through innovation, skills, and entrepreneurship.
