Former Ghana Institution of Engineering President, Prof. Charles Adams, emphasized the need for innovative and excellent leadership in African engineering institutions during the 6th Engineer Banagana Mohammed Distinguished Annual Public Lecture. He defined innovative leadership as a style that applies innovation and creativity to manage people and projects, inspiring productivity through new approaches.
Adams highlighted the importance of engineering leadership in guiding teams to achieve technological feats, fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation. He stressed that engineering leaders must not only solve technical challenges but also inspire and empower their teams to reach their full potential.
Adams and Aji Ezekiel, Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Victoria Island Branch, both emphasized that innovative leadership is crucial for the continent’s future. They called for a forward-thinking mindset, embracing creativity and adaptability to drive meaningful progress.
The event coincided with the annual general meeting and induction of new members into the Nigerian Society of Engineers, reinforcing the need for innovative leadership in shaping a future where engineering drives economic growth, improves quality of life, and addresses environmental and social issues.
