ActionSA has called for the immediate deportation of Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso, accusing him of exploiting South Africa’s citizens under the guise of faith and religious leadership. The party has voiced its opposition to individuals like Omotoso, who are allegedly using the platform of religion to commit heinous crimes and deceive vulnerable communities.
The party’s statement emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between foreign nationals who enter South Africa legally and contribute positively to the country, and those who exploit the system for personal gain. Omotoso, who has been accused of serious criminal offenses including human trafficking, sexual assault, and racketeering involving women and underage children, is described as someone who has no place in South Africa.
ActionSA’s statement underscores the belief that South Africa is already grappling with a significant crime crisis, and it cannot afford to shelter individuals who further exacerbate these issues. The party also expressed its outrage over the recent acquittal of Omotoso by the Eastern Cape High Court, which it believes highlights systemic failures in the country’s criminal justice and immigration systems.
The statement calls for the names of Omotoso, along with alleged accomplices Zukisa Sitho and Lusanda Sulani, to be added to South Africa’s national sex offenders’ register to prevent them from having future access to vulnerable populations. In addition, ActionSA demands that Omotoso’s residency be revoked, and he should be deported back to Nigeria to ensure he can no longer operate as a church leader or engage in any further criminal activity in South Africa.
