The National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) is gearing up to tackle the issues that have hindered the growth of Nigeria’s travel market. As part of its 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM), the association will discuss the emerging challenges and seek effective measures to protect the interests of stakeholders in the travel industry.

Deliberating on Solutions for Market Growth
In an exclusive interview, Folami revealed that the AGM will focus on institutionalizing strategies to safeguard the travel sector against the ‘strange market forces’ troubling the industry. The discussion will aim to address the growing challenges and ultimately create more opportunities for NANTA members.
“We are determined to overcome the challenges posed by emerging market forces,” Folami stated. “Our goal is to create measures that will insulate the travel sector from negative impacts while enabling members to prosper.”
Key Speakers and Discussions
A major highlight of the event will be an address by Sunil Kumar, the President of the United Federation of Travel Agents Associations (UFTAA). Kumar will join other distinguished speakers, including:
- Dr. Kemi Pinheiro
- Dr. Joseph Kithitu, President of the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) and Vice President of UFTAA
The discussions will focus on strategies to combat the ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s travel market, including those that have led to market instability.
Industry Showcase and Networking Opportunities
The AGM will also feature a series of exhibitions, providing a platform for travel agents and industry stakeholders to showcase their services and innovations. Lola Adewole, the AGM Planning Committee Chairperson and NANTA’s National Publicity Secretary, highlighted the significance of this part of the event, noting that it will facilitate networking and collaboration among service providers and buyers.
“This will be an opportunity for critical service providers to engage with buyers, strategically unveiling new opportunities, and sharing data to help licensed companies and organizations,” Adewole stated.
The AGM will be a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s travel agencies to unite, exchange ideas, and protect their market while pursuing shared prosperity for all players in the travel and tourism sector.
