Top figures from business, government, and development sectors will gather in Kano on June 5, 2025, for the upcoming For The Love of The Country (FLOC) summit, a pivotal event aimed at transforming Nigeria’s economic direction over the next decade.
Titled “Reimagining Nigeria’s Economy for a Prosperous Future: Where We Should Be in the Next Decade,” the conference is set to ignite forward-thinking discussions on economic renewal and long-term national growth.
According to convener Atinuke Odjenima, Kano was selected deliberately for its historic importance in commerce, agriculture, and enterprise.
“Kano’s legacy as an economic powerhouse makes it the ideal location for this kind of high-level dialogue on inclusive development,” she said. “Its spirit of enterprise reflects the vision of this year’s conference.”
The speaker lineup blends political, economic, and private-sector insight to ensure a well-rounded conversation. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano will open the event, joined by Emir Sanusi Lamido, emphasizing the intersection of modern governance and traditional leadership.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, will offer strategies for economic diversification and industrial expansion. Renowned economist Professor Pat Utomi and Dr. Doris Anite Uzoka, Minister of State for Finance, will bring financial and policy expertise to the table.
The summit also features insights from:

-

Core issues to be addressed include transitioning from oil dependency, infrastructure expansion, strengthening sectors like agriculture, solid minerals, ICT, finance, and manufacturing, and finding solutions to inflation, unemployment, and human capital development through education and innovation.
Beyond policy, FLOC 2025 offers avenues for corporate partnerships, including sponsorships that provide brand exposure, thought leadership opportunities, and strategic networking.
This year, there is a dedicated spotlight on youth and women, aiming to enhance their participation in shaping Nigeria’s economic and leadership landscape.
With mounting challenges and increasing calls for reform, this event is positioned to be one of Nigeria’s most influential gatherings of 2025.
