African payments technology giant Paystack has officially launched a major support initiative aimed at helping local merchants survive and scale. The Paystack Small Business Program moves the company beyond pure transaction processing, positioning it as an end-to-end growth partner for the micro, small, and medium enterprise ($\text{SME}$) ecosystem.

The program addresses everyday operational hurdles—such as fragmented bookkeeping, expensive digital tools, and complex logistics networks—by providing discounted infrastructure, hands-on growth guidance, and direct equity-free funding.

The Three-Part Strategy for SME Growth

The program is built on three core initiatives designed to target different stages of a small business’s lifecycle:

  • The Small Business Bundle: A collection of tools, operational resources, and heavy partner discounts to help early-stage merchants lower their overhead costs and run more efficiently.

  • The Small Business Launchpad: Dedicated, hands-on technical and operational support to help high-potential businesses fully optimize Paystack’s software suite to accelerate their sales volume.

  • The Small Business Grant: Direct financial injections to provide high-potential businesses with the necessary working capital to fund market expansion and structural upgrades.

The Small Business Bundle and Partner Network

The program kicks off with the Small Business Bundle, which provides eligible merchants with up to ₦4 million in cumulative discounts on business products. Paystack is targeting an initial cohort of 2,000 Nigerian small and medium businesses for this pilot phase, with plans to add more vendors over time.

The partner network spans several critical operational domains, allowing merchants to claim multiple discounts tailored to their specific needs:

Strict Eligibility and Vetting Metrics

To prevent fraud and ensure the resources go to active, operational traders, Paystack has established strict transaction-based guardrails. The bundle is not open to completely inactive accounts or conceptual ideas; it requires a proven commercial track record.

To qualify for the discount package, a merchant must meet three baseline criteria:

  1. Maintain a fully verified, live Paystack account (not in test mode).

  2. Have successfully processed at least 10 live transactions through the Paystack gateway within the last 30 days.

  3. Be actively operating within Nigeria.

Eligible founders who meet these criteria can apply directly through the dedicated program portal. Once verified by Paystack’s operations team, unique redemption vouchers and setup instructions are emailed to the merchant within three business days.
