Jigawa State is carving a path to become one of Nigeria’s foremost digital hubs, as the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) joined forces with the state’s Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy to chart the next stage of its transformation.
At the NITDA-Sub National Engagement and IT Ecosystem Development Programme, held in Dutse, leaders and stakeholders rallied around the theme “Creating Opportunities, Breaking Boundaries Towards Digitalisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution.” The discussions moved beyond policy into action, positioning Jigawa as a testing ground for how states can lead Nigeria’s digital revolution.
Digital literacy and inclusion emerged as the foundation of this push. Speaking on behalf of NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Dr. Ayodeji Eniola spotlighted the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF) as a tool to empower both formal and informal sectors. “Equitable access to digital skills is the bridge that connects opportunity with competitiveness,” he noted.
The programme also underscored a vital truth: collaboration between federal and state institutions is the fuel for innovation. By aligning Jigawa’s local ambitions with Nigeria’s national digital strategy, stakeholders believe the state can accelerate entrepreneurship, attract investment, and diversify its economy through technology.
For Jigawa, where ICT adoption is rapidly expanding, this engagement marks more than just another event — it is a turning point.
