To address the high operational mortality rate of early-stage, women-led micro-enterprises, beauty brand Beyondsurface Hairhub hosted the maiden edition of the Beyond The Strands Business Seminar (BTS 2026) on June 30, 2026. Held physically at TheWrkoutHub in Lagos under the theme “Business Structure Made Simple,” the zero-cost vocational incubator was designed to provide female operators with corporate governance literacy, formalizing informal business models that typically struggle to scale due to structural deficiencies.
The corporate training summit focused on three main operational pillars:
-
Democratizing Corporate Governance: Folashade Idowu, Founder of Beyondsurface Hairhub, stated that the initiative aims to bridge the sharp business knowledge gap facing young African entrepreneurs who lack the capital for expensive business school programs. The training curriculum focused on transforming informal passion projects into legally structured enterprises, showing how structured business systems directly protect household economics and stabilize local community supply chains.
-
Core Technical Business Training: The intensive seminar provided practical corporate management modules led by a panel of industry experts, including Omolola Dada (Awani Digitals), Adebisi Odeleye (Moore Organic), Bankeye Akinwale (Michael Akinwale & Co.), and Olamide Olayinka (Mayana). Training tracks covered tax and legal documentation compliance, bookkeeping, workflow automation, brand positioning, and performance metrics for team management.
-
B2B Networking and Micro-Exhibitions: Alongside the technical workshops, the venue served as an active marketplace for corporate networking, product exhibitions, and immediate cash-flow sales. Featured female-led brands—including August26 Trend, Kiano Naturals, Glowbywealth, and Beyondsurface Hairhub—secured direct-to-consumer sales channels. Following strong feedback and video testimonials from digital and physical participants, the organizers confirmed that the seminar will pivot into an annual ecosystem event to track and support small business growth across Lagos.
