The Golden Rule Of Business
You’ve probably heard about the golden rule of life; “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Well, here’s the thing, the golden rule of business is no different; “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
It never ceases to amaze me every time I see many entrepreneurs going about their business as if it were separate or different from life. Not only is this mindset towards business wrong, it is a losing strategy.
You see, there’s no way you are going to succeed in business if you keep ignoring the fact that business is not different from life, but rather an extension of life. I cannot over emphasize this enough.
Many businesses fail because they ignore this universal truth. What they have failed to realize is that the same principles that govern life are the same principles that govern business. The fact is, you cannot separate life from business or business from life. To succeed therefore, your task as an entreprneur is to create a balance between the two.
This unusual article is about helping you achieve this balance. Read on …
Discovering Your Purpose As An Entrepreneur (Part 2)
How can you tell what your purpose is?
This is a sequel to a previous post, i strongly suggest you read that first for complete understanding.
1. Find out what kind of person you ARE:
as far as I know, there are only two kinds of people in the world; those who like doing things ‘with people’ and those who like working ‘with things’. If you are the kind who likes working ‘with people’, then you are a ‘people person’; and if you are the kind who prefer working ‘on things’, then you are a ‘process person’. What do I mean?
Discovering Your Purpose As An Entrepreneur
By Tito Philips, Jnr.
What on earth are you here for?
Never before has the question of purpose - “why are we here?” - become so pertinent to the human race at a time like this. It is in the lowly and toughest of times that many look within (internally) for strength and direction when all else without (externally), seem to be falling apart and ask these questions;
“Where Is my place in all of these uncertainty?”
“What role am I created to play in this global scene?”
“What contribution am I expected to make at my current place of work, volunteer group, community, church, family, circle of friends, or school?”
Why Did You Become An Entrepreneur?
Are you really an entrepreneur; a person who takes risks to create change? Or are you just one of those multitudes who hide under the title of an ‘entrepreneur’ to make ends meet?
So much fuss about entrepreneurship, yet so little impact. Why? Because many people going about with the title of an entrepreneur are not really in it to create change (significance); they are in it to make a living (survival). And when survival is the FOCUS, then mediocrity becomes the OUTCOME. What we see are a bunch of businesses offering inferior goods and services yet charging exorbitant prices at the very expense of their stakeholders; customers, employees, suppliers and society in general. Their singular focus is on what they will get (profit) rather than on what they will give (value). If you went into business or your reason for starting a business is to make a living (survive), I suggest you re-evaluate your options and go back to the drawing board again.
Going into business simply because you want to make money (profit) is far too much a price to pay as an entrepreneur. I mean isn’t that what employees do; working nine-to-five in order to make ends meet? Why in the world would you choose to become an entrepreneur (be your own BOSS) just because you want to make a living when there is already a far more easy alternative for that –employment. If you are so much in need of money in order to make a living (survive), please go get a job and stop wasting your precious time posing as an entrepreneur!
The 3 Highly Effective Habits of Business Success
by Tito Philips, Jnr.
Success in life and in business is the result of several compounding efforts. The key word here being ‘compounding’,
suggesting that success is not ONE stroke of fate but the summation of several calculated trials and efforts expended along a consistent direction. You can never achieve success in one day, it’s a journey one must embark on every day and never a destination one intends to stop. To make this journey, the success or failure depends on your preparation.
Success they say is when opportunity meets with preparation. To succeed, you must train yourself first to identify opportunities, then look for ways to seize those opportunities. In other words, success is developing the ability to recognize opportunities and developing the capacity to seize those opportunities recognized. Most times, when you see great achievements, don’t just marvel at the results, find out what specific actions was taken before they got the kind of results you now admire. It’s those set of specific actions that gave birth to the results you now admire. You cannot hope to achieve the same kind of results they achieved by simply studying or copying the results, never. To get the same results, you’ve got to identify, learn, master and take the same set of specific actions.
Identifying those set of specific actions capable of yielding SIGNIFICANT results in your business is the focus of this article. By reading this article, I hope to help you identify, learn and master the 3 highly effective habits that will guarantee the outcome of the journey of success you’ve decided to embark on in your business.
